Kay's Biography

The Midwest has always been home to Kay.  Born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa, Kay has never journeyed far from her roots. One of the greatest joys in Kay's life is her family. She has been blessed with a twin sister, Sue. She also has twin sisters and twin brothers, in addition to other siblings for a total of 12 siblings. What makes family so special to Kay is the fact that she was given up for adoption at birth, and raised only with her twin sister.

In 1996, Kay and Sue began the search for their biological parents.  Kay tells the story of their search in the book she authored, To Whom It May Concern.  It is a story of love, and sacrifice and wholeness.  Through the pages of this compelling and emotional story, Kay shares her struggles and celebrations with adoption.  The reader experiences first-hand the letters which were written by their mother in 1958 and finally discovered in 1996.  You will be swept away as you journey through the pages of history and celebrate the discovery of three sets of twins, separated by adoption, and the reunion with their family of origin.

Through the process of writing her story, Kay found healing and strength.  At that point she found the courage to recognize the frailty of her own emotions and began a journey of health and healing.  She now finds herself reaching out to help others who have similar struggles, emotional and physical.  Kay unashamedly points them to the cross and to the healing work of Christ in her own life.

Faith and Fitness - Two words that describe much of what drives Kay on a daily basis.  Being a morning person, Kay is inclined to rise early to allow quiet time at the start of each day.  Kay would be the first to say, “You can’t give something that you don’t have.  It‘s imperative that I start each day with God.  I trust Him to give me all I need for today.”

Fitness - It’s all about choices.  We all have the choice to be proactive or reactive when it comes to wellness.” she says.  Kay had a vision for fitness ministry in 1998.  Although God continues to refine her vision, she is thankful that she has never lost her passion for all that is yet to be accomplished.  Today classes fill the gym as friendships develop and wellness remains a priority.

Kay received another vision from God on May 18, 2005.  In the vision there was a building with a sign out front that read "The Training Center".  God continues to reveal and define that vision.  The Training Center became a non-profit organization in early 2006.

In addition to teaching fitness classes, Kay is energized by bible study and loves to spend her spare time curled up with a book.  She describes herself as continually on a quest for knowledge.  She has a degree in Health Education from the University of Northern Iowa with hopes to finish a degree in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute.

Family  - That’s where it all begins and ends each day... with family and friends.  Kay gives the highest priority to her family, taking the responsibility of raising her children very seriously.   She delights in her children and granddaughter, and when it comes to her source of direction and inspiration for parenting, she refers to Deuteronomy 6.

Kay is known as an inspiring and authentic speaker.  Her personal stories impact the lives of adults, as well as students, helping them to move forward in their own lives.  Her relational style of living and speaking allows other people to learn from her journey of life and faith.
